What this book Sor’s Grand Solo is about
In a recent article in Soundboard I examined the currently known early sources of Grand Solo and suggested that the piece was originally written for seven-string guitar and was later adapted several times for six-string guitar. The first part of this present book amplifies that article. Part Two of the book discusses and seeks to answer the question: which version should I play, and why? The book contains new editions of the three principal early versions of Grand Solo which are significantly different from each other, so that players can decide for themselves, on the basis of the information provided in the book, which of the three versions they wish to play.
